Doing things "right"

Sorry to say I was not able to do much about my School of Rock plan this weekend, as my wife was not feeling too good. As a result I spent a lot of my time cooking (which is usual for weekends anyway), washing, walking the dog, looking after the kids, etc. I did manage to fit in an hour of painting my toy soldiers on Saturday and about half an hour on guitar on Sunday, but not much else. Oh well, at least we have the long Easter weekend coming up, and I have extended it by taking Wednesday and Thursday of too! Yippee!

Anyway, on to the topic of today's blog. It was while I was pegging out clothes on the washing line that I realised that my wife was watching me.

"Just checking that you are doing it right".

This is a trait that runs in her family. The women have a fixation with how certain things are done, such as how washing is hung out. If it is done wrong they will march out into the garden and, regardless of how ill they are supposed to be, repeg every single piece until it is "right".

Some times friends will ask if it bothers me. Nope, I just learn the "right" way and do it that way. OK, so she still checks on me, but what the heck. It means I can tease her by deliberately doing it "wrong". He he.

Pegging the clothes? That gave me a laugh because it provides a clear visual, but we say "pinning" the clothes, because we use clothes pins. (Well, I don't because after almost 19 years of marriage I've stopped asking him to install a clothes line in the yard already!)

Wait a minute! You mean to say that men purposely do things wrong just to get a rise out of their wives? You know all the other men are going to be upset that you've spilled the beans!

My wife put up the line herself, probably because I would not have done it right :-)

Re second comment - Terri, please rest assured that deliberate acts like this are only done for mutual fun and entertainment, and are corrected straight away. All other forms of "wrong" act are totally innocent and should not be taken as deliberate!

(Phew, do you think I managed to cover there, guys? That was close!)

I'm it's you & not me. I pegged clothes for almost the 13yrs of my life. Then we upgraded to a dryer. Never will I peg clothes unless my dryer breaks. haha. I told my husband when we moved to Austria 8mo ago. I don't care where we live..we will have a dryer. Well it took about 2mo to get it but we did.

That's funny of your wife checking on you. I too do that, after the fact. Steve feels I'm spying on him. wich I do. haha.

I've given up folding towels, shirts, and sheets, because I never do it "right". I think this is in a woman's genes...
