Christmas Decorations...

In our house we usually have 2 distinct types of decoration.

In the living room, my wife performs wonders of good taste - twinkling white lights, red ribbons, an angel here and there. It looks like something from a life-style magazine.

The hall and kitchen are usually where me and the kids are let loose. This is where the second tree groans under the weight of my older daughter's Winnie the Pooh decorations, where we have the singing Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore live, where the garish LED disco ball lights go, where the home made paper chains are hung, where the dozens of multicoloured mirror balls hang from the ceiling. In other words it is the absolute opposite of how our livingroom looks.

This year looks like being a bit different - it looks like I, that is ME will be let loose in the livingroom! Yes, the haven of good taste is going to be taken over by my crass, garish, wonderful decorating! The tree will not know what hit it! I have seen the amazing new tree docorations and stuff to string across the ceiling and - ooh I can't wait!

Hahahahahahahahahaaaaaaa!!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!!!!

Who knows, I might even post photos if you are really unlucky!

My husband does a lot of directing, but no actual decorating...which is all fine by me. My dad only put the tree up, that was the extent, then we girls and my mom would do everything else. I can't wait to see what you come up with!!

In our household, Zig is the one with the good decorating taste, whereas I am all for the garish, bright, multi-coloured happiness that has always been Christmas to me. Every year we have the white light debate - I usually come out on top, but I think last year Zig's reasoning out. This year, I'm going to push for the musical, dancing, somewhat tacky but always fun, coloured Christmas lights and miscellaneous decorating bobbles.

And you should definitely post pics of your Christmas decorating. I can't wait!

Ok... maybe not "maniacal."

Can't wait to see your "rockin'" decorating scheme!

My MIL only decorates her tree with glass or gold ornaments and every year, my husband moans about her "Macy's tree" and wonders what happened to all those ornaments from when he and his brothers were kids.

You know, the ones that are basically pom poms rolled in glitter or macaroni glued to construction paper.

I told him that now that all of her boys are out of the house, she gets to have a pretty tree!

ooohhhh, i love the white lights.

we went w/ red last year and they're quite beautiful on the tree. but this year i think we'll go back w/ multicolored. adds something to a tree, i think.

i'd love to decorate like your wife. one day i hope to get to that level.

the pooh-ville sounds adorable. i would have loved that as a child.

now.. the disco ball... not sure what to make of that. can't wait to hear more. :)
