Get Gorgeous...

We were watching TV last night when an ad came on. A chemist chain is giving away DVDs on make up. The DVD is called "Get Gorgeous".

As the ad finished, my daughter looked up and said "Please, daddy, can you get me that tomorrow?"

"Sure."

Then my wife looked over and said "You're not worried that they will think it is for you, then?"

Now I could have responded in a number of ways. I buy anything and everything for my wife and kids, so any thoughts of "ooh, that's a girly thing" went away long ago! A simple "no" would have done the trick. However, I could not prevent the reply that DID come out.

"Of course they will know it's not for me. I'm totally gorgeous already!"

At this point, my older son exploded into a fit of uncontrollable laughter, falling off the sofa onto the floor. Even after he had calmed down, he still kept snickering to himself for the rest of the evening.

I am sure it was not really that funny. If it was, maybe I should consider a career change!

I can always trust my kids for a reality check!

I think it was a completely appropriate reply! I'd expect nothing less from you!

I'm sure your son was laughing at what an amusing response it was, and not implying that it was untrue! :)

It sounds like you have a nice fun relaxed and laid back household in that you were all together as a family and able to have a great laugh like that. Thanks for that glimpse into your life John!

Ali - You seem to be getting a lot of laughs at my expense at the moment!

Mindy - Your dad sounds like a good guy!

Jahooni - They sure do!

Terri - Am I really that transparent?

Princess - Thank you so much!

Logzie - Yes, we are pretty laid back most of the time, but there are rules and lines that the kids would never dare to cross. Makes for a pretty happy family I think.

That was funny. Thanks for your comment on my blog, by the way.

Ahhhh...I know the feeling. Their turn will come! ;) Mine are usually talking about someone they saw and say they were old. I'll say like how old and they'll open their mouth to say about your age and then snap it shut because they realize what they were going to say! Then the laughing (on both sides) starts!
You're comment was awesome though!

Marie - good to see you here, I have got your blog bookmarked now.

Krista - Yep, had that too "He is ancient, over 40!" (My kids just say it). And then I see someone on TV that looks really old and bad and it turns out they are younger than I am, and I get to wondering...

I really enjoyed that story. It was a lovely glimpse into a family that actually spends time together. Gotta have a good laugh from time to time to keep our heads about us.

Gapgirl - glad you liked it.

Logzie - we think so.

AmazingBrenda - perhaps it is a British comment, but only so long as you don't really mean it!
